We started our blogging journey at the beginning of 2018. Yet it wasn’t before spring of the same year that we actually took it seriously. Blogging for us is a brand new and fascinating world unfolding right before our very eyes. However, this world holds neither success nor joy for those who choose to tread a lonely path. The essence and the beauty of blogging lie in that magic moment when you get to meet all those people you’ve never met before in your life but share with them the same passions, dreams, fears and doubts. That’s why we couldn’t wait to attend our first bloggers’ event at some point. It wasn’t long before we did. The Bloggers On Top 2018 Unconference held in Bansko couldn’t have come at a better time.
Bulgaria’s proximity to Greece makes it an ideal destination for short or even longer trips from our country. Bansko, in particular, is very popular with Greeks. Especially those living in Northern Greece. For the latter it’s approximately a 3-hour drive to Bulgaria’s top ski resort. However, that’s not the case for people living in Central or Southern Greece. For us, driving to Bansko from Athens, apart from being quite tiring, is also expensive. Fuel and road tolls cost way more than catching a Ryanair or Wizz Air flight to Sofia. So when the opportunity arose for us to visit Bansko in order to attend the Bloggers On Top 2018 Unconference, we booked our cheap flights to the Bulgarian capital and then all we had to figure out was how to get from Sofia to Bansko.
It’s no secret that Bansko is Bulgaria’s most popular ski resort. Ski lovers from neighbouring Romania and Greece as well as the UK and elsewhere flock to the picturesque mountain town every winter. Yet regarding Bansko as a strictly winter destination is a huge mistake. There’s so much more in this quaint little town than its famous ski slopes and it is worth visiting all year round. You can find many articles about skiing in Bulgaria and Bansko ski in particular, so we’re not getting into this at all. Here’s our list of the top things to do in Bansko if skiing is not your thing or if you’re visiting outside ski season. Which you should, by the way.
